When It Has Been The Longest Week Ever, In The Middle Of Tuesday.
Happy Tuesday! It's been a week.. already. I somehow managed to completely forget to set my alarm last night. I woke up around 5 am and glanced at my phone, thankful that I still had an hour to sleep. I snoozed for TWO more hours. Thankfully I received a text at 7:05 and thankfully I glanced at my phone to read it. Only to slowly realize it was 7:05 am. I triple checked the time before jumping out of bed. I sprinted to my bathroom and starred at my blurry reflection while my brain caught up to the realization I was running WAY behind. I debated between brushing my teeth and makeup but the morning breath won. My brain was running so slow this morning, which made decisions harder and counteracted the whole "I am running behind I need to move fast". I put in my contacts, pulled my hair in to a ponytail, threw on some makeup and sprinted to my closet. I tried on three different shirts before deciding on one and then debated between two different cardigan sweaters. I pulled on my black pants and boots and then headed in to the kitchen. I've never been more thankful for cliff/quest bars in my life. I tossed one in my purse and began putting together my lunch. I then remembered that I had cooked chicken and dumplings in the crock pot overnight. I still needed to add the dumplings but I was supposed to do that an hour ago and heat it again for an hour. Since I didn't have an hour, I was worried if I reheated the pot that they might burn from sitting too long while I was at work. So let me tell you, that was by far the most difficult debate I had by far. I FINALLY decided to throw in some biscuits and just place the lid back on the pot (crock pot off) in hopes they would cook correctly from the leftover heat. I am also praying the soup does not burn while I am at work. Because well wouldn't that be just completely unlike ANY meal I have ever made. But seriously praying because I love chicken and dumplings and I would really like to have that for dinner.
I made it to work in a record two minutes late. This morning was rough though. Sleeping in did nothing but make me more exhausted than usual. I struggled until the coffee slightly hit. And when I say coffee I mean frappuchino. A resident conveniently stopped by shortly after I arrived and dropped off a piece of pumpkin bread. BLESS HER and the Lord above that knew I needed a little extra goodness this morning. That pumpkin bread and frappuchino is the only thing that kept me responsive for the following FIVE people that came in to my office before lunch. Lets be clear, I am in a customer service type job BUT my office/person interaction has been low up until the past two weeks. And those interactions typically happen in the latter part of my day. Luckily I think everyone and their mom could tell that my conversations needed to be straight to the point today. For whatever reason my ever so unintentional but natural RBF at work tends to welcome the "I am going to tell you my entire life story whether you ask for it or not". I think I take it graciously well most of the time, but if not my counterpart Sandra can usually pick up in what I lack. However, I was on my own today because she was sick so luckily I was able to cover my basis well.
I managed to make it through the remainder of the day with a slight smile on my face and a wink in my eye. Although the wink was only showing its appearance because my contact was being ultra annoying from 11 am on. This caused my eye to blink ever so frequently. Luckily this came after the people rush because I was not prepared for the hella awkward looks I was gonna get from winking at all of my visitors.
